My firstborn is now 13. I am sitting here trying to figure out where the time has gone. I feel a little torn about this growing up business. I have loved him being a kid, but I really think this adolescent thing is going to be a blast.

His dreams came true and he got a Kindle. He is already using it a little too much and I am realizing that it is going to be tricky figuring out if he is reading or playing Angry Birds. Mike and I spent the next evening getting all the parental controls set up.
He got breakfast in bed and I did the unthinkable--I got him McDonald's.
We surprised him with 13 presents--Mockingjay pin, favorite candy bars and gum, clothes, keychain, gift card and a new trapper keeper for middle school (I'm in denial that he is starting middle school.)
On his birthday, I dropped him and Bev off at Classic for three hours of fun.
We did his birthday dinner (a day late) at Cheesecake Factory. Cousin Courtney joined us.
13 things we love about this kid
He is in that really fun in-between time where he is starting to "get" adult humor, and he still plays with Legos.
He is sensitive. He loves babies and animals and he watches out for his mama.
He still (and always will) lets me snuggle him.
He is a saver and hard worker.
He is funny. He is always quoting something or making hilarious observations.
He has this great, contagious laugh.
He sets a good example for us.
He is smart.
He has good character. He is honest and polite and wants to follow Jesus Christ.
He is supportive and encouraging and always giving compliments.
He is grateful.
He gets excited about things--little things and big things.
His expressive face. Since he was a baby his face tells it all--excitement, anger, sadness, happiness.

I'm in total agreement with your 13 sentiments about Drew. The teenage years are trying, but a blast at the same time.
